Must-see attractions in Toulouse
Begin your adventure at Le Capitole, the bustling main square of Toulouse. Surrounded by stunning architecture and vibrant restaurants, it's the perfect spot to soak in the city's atmosphere. Don't miss the chance to visit the magnificent Saint Sernin Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a masterpiece of Romanesque art. Afterwards, take a leisurely stroll through the city to fully appreciate its unique charm and character.
Canal du Midi is the river flowing through Toulouse which splits the city. The Pont Neuf bridge has 7 arches and is a nice bridge to take picturesque images.
Rugby- Toulouse is famous for its rugby team so it is worth checking if the team are playing at home when you are in Toulouse.
Although they wasn't playing when I was there. I still hopped on a bus and visited the stadium to see how big it was.
Cable Car-Toulouse has the longest cable car in France. It is designed to transport university students from one place to another but its actually a good way to see the city from up above. Tickets are only 1.80 euros single trip and can be bought there so no need to buy online in advance.

Cassoulet
You may or may not have heard about cassoulet. This dish is practically everywhere throughout Toulouse and Carcassonne.
It is a French meat bean stew with poultry, sausage and pork. No matter when you have it during the day it is a hearty, warming and filling meal which just the stew alone leaves your belly so full. I would also recommend having a glass of malbec which compliments the stew to enhance the flavours and make your tastebuds bursting.

Insider tip: a day trip to Carcassonne
For an unforgettable experience, take a day trip from Toulouse to the magnificent Carcassonne castle. This medieval fortified city, with its impressive double-walled ramparts and fairytale-like towers, is a truly spectacular sight. It's a journey back in time that will enrich your visit to the region.
This castle is like Dr who's tardis. It seems average size castle at first but it took me a whole hour just to walk around the outskirts of the castle and it is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
The castle sits on top of a hill which overlooks Carcassonne with some great views far beyond.
Queues for tickets are quite long to you can either wait or book online but its a must to see this spectacular castle.
