Unmissable sights and sounds
Lisbon is a city of endless charm and history. Be sure to wander through the ancient Alfama district, where every corner tells a story. Ascend to the impressive 11th-century São Jorge Castle for breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the Tagus River. And no visit is complete without experiencing a ride on a classic yellow tram, especially the iconic Tram 28, which offers a picturesque journey through Lisbon's most historic neighbourhoods. The city is hilly but there is plenty of trams about to take you throughout the city.
some other sights to see include the monument of discoveries which is a pretty large statue. The Monument of the Discoveries, or Padrão dos Descobrimentos, stands 170 feet tall located in the Santa Maria de Belém area, the site commemorates prominent historical figures from the 15th and 16th century Portuguese Age of Discovery.
Lisbon cathedral is also a nice sight. You can see the cathedral right after the walking tour as that is where the tour finishes.

Local insights and hidden gems
While exploring Lisbon, keep these valuable tips in mind to enhance your trip. If you're planning to visit the majestic Christ the King statue, remember that the bus journey across the river is not included in the standard city transport pass and requires an additional fare.
For sports enthusiasts, consider taking a tour of the Sporting Lisbon and Benfica stadiums to delve into Portugal's passionate football culture. These tours offer a unique perspective on local life and sporting heritage.
The Benfica tour was probably the best stadium tour I have had. You had your own tour guide you could see developments throughout the stadium along with a little gift at the end of tour which feels a lot more personal for the fans.
Sporting Lisbon was also very good with knowledge from the tour guide showing the pitch all the way to the hospitality boxes.
Although the wasn't much going on the main square (Praça do Comércio) it felt a nice picturesque place to stroll around and sit to watch the sun set along the river overlooking the bridge.
Christ the king statue- I think the statue is underrated. Mainly because the views of the city is incredible. There is a lift up tickets are reasonable but I was truly taken back at how nice the view was from the other side of the cities river.

A taste of Lisbon: Culinary delights
Lisbon is a paradise for food lovers. A visit to the Time Out Market is an absolute must. While it might be a bit pricier, the diverse range of high-quality food stalls makes it 100% worth it for an unforgettable culinary experience. And of course, you cannot leave Lisbon without trying the iconic pastel de nata. For the most authentic experience, seek out the Pastel de Belém, widely considered to be the best in the city. Indulge in these creamy custard tarts, often enjoyed with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Pastel de Belem is right next to the Jerónimos Monastery..
I would recommend doing the free walking tour here. The tour guide not only has good knowledge of the city but also knows the great spots for the Instagram pictures and best cafes to visit.
