Discover Gdansk: A historical journey
Welcome to the Gdansk travel guide. Explore the rich history, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine of this stunning Polish city. Whether you're a history buff, a food lover, or simply looking for an unforgettable European adventure, Gdansk has something special for everyone. I will also mention to go to Gdynia and Sopot these places makes up the tri-city.

Must-see attractions in Gdansk
When in Gdansk, there are three absolute must-see places that will captivate your senses and deepen your understanding of this remarkable city. First, visit Westerplatte, the site where World War II began. It's a poignant and historically significant location that offers a powerful reflection on the past. It is right next to a long beautiful beach and you can get to Westerplatte with a river boat trip. These are situated along the MotÅ‚awa river in the old town area. An adult round trip river cruise is £19. But also you get to see the industrial part of Gdansk.
Next, take a leisurely stroll through the charming Old Town. Its colourful architecture, cobblestone streets, and bustling atmosphere create an unforgettable experience. I would recommend doing the free walking tour with 'Walkative'. This company is based throughout Poland but has an excellent tour of Gdansk.
Finally, challenge yourself by climbing the 400 steps of St. Mary's Church for an amazing panoramic view of the city. The breath-taking vista is well worth the effort and provides a unique perspective of Gdansk. But be warned its not as easy as you think to walk up.

Savour the flavours of Gdansk
No trip to Gdansk would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights. You absolutely must try pierogi, the iconic Polish dumplings. These delicious parcels of dough, often filled with meat, potatoes, cheese, or fruit, are a staple of Polish cuisine. You can find them in almost any traditional Polish restaurant across the city, from casual eateries to more upscale dining establishments. I went to Pierogarnia Stary Mlyn Gdansk this restaurant was along the river and its known for the best pierogi with different options available.

Day trip to Sopot and Gdynia
Beyond the well-trodden tourist paths, Gdansk offers unique experiences for those looking to explore a little deeper. Our top tip for a unique local insight is to take a day trip to Gdynia and Sopot. These two neighbouring cities, along with Gdansk, form what is known as the "Tricity" area. Both of these places are reachable by train from Gdansk.
Sopot is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches and the longest wooden pier in Europe, perfect for a relaxing seaside escape, there is also a weird shape building called krzywy Domek(dancing house). It remined me of the cat in the hat when the house was part of the cats world.
Gdynia, on the other hand, boasts a more modern character with a lively port and interesting maritime museums. Exploring these nearby towns offers a different perspective on the Baltic coast and allows you to experience more of the region's diverse offerings. Both of these places are stunning and a completely different vibe to Gdansk.
